PayPal Killing Apps on Mobile Platforms

PayPal make a bold decision by pulling their apps from various platforms. PayPal begins to remove their mobile app from variant operating systems. One of the most popular online payment method decided that Windows Phone, Amazon, and BlackBerry will no longer be supported from June 30, 2016.PayPal never considered Windows Phone and BlackBerry as a big mobile market. However, abandoning Amazon’s Fire OS was surprising, facing the Kindle Fire tablets popularity.

There is not much of an official statement regarding this news. The company did mention that PayPal counts this decision will lead to better apps on iOS and Android because now developers can now focuse on those platforms only.

From the PayPal blog post:

“We remain committed to partnering with mobile device providers, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers,” Lambert said. PayPal claims that putting a sharper focus on just the two apps will allow the company to “innovate and make enhancements to PayPal’s mobile experiences to give our customers the best possible ways to manage and move their money.”

One important thing is that users on these platforms can still use the Paypal mobile website. For example, BlackBerry users will still be able to send PayPal payments through BBM, and users can turn on the PayPal by adding-in to send funds from the email application as well. So, the PayPal company refuse to maintain the mobile apps only, but not drops support for these platforms totally.

Because of the Global Availability Bitcoin Remains Superior

This PayPal decision also shows how big centralized payment system can take away the power from their consumers and businesses. because of this PayPal users are given one less convenient option to send and receive money which creates spectacular potential for Bitcoin wallet developers.

Now that Bitcoin can start to develop apps for these three mobile operating systems which are lacking proper financial applications. The offerings will be expanded soon with only one wallet available for Windows Phone and Blackberry but Fire OS users have a little more options at their direction. All the above stated contributes to increase the level of competition in the market.

Even though that these systems are not the most popular operating systems, they all have devoted users, who merit approach to financial freedom. It is exactly what provides by Bitcoin, and of course, the developers should pay attention of this opportunity.
